We are seeking a highly motivated, thorough, and experienced Engineering or Architecture Generalist to join our Property Condition Assessment team. The successful candidate will play a leading role in conducting physical due diligence and producing comprehensive and well-written reports; helping our clients identify and understand physical risk and technical challenges as they acquire, develop, or manage real estate assets. This position requires frequent travel to various locations, exceptional communication skills, and a strong technical background in engineering or architecture. Positions for full-time employment and part-time contracting work are available.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Scope of Services: Execution of assigned project scope, which includes, but is not limited to:
- Property Condition Assessment (PCA) for both equity and lender-level clients.
- Feasibility Reports for site acquisitions and planned developments.
- Document Design Review (DDR) for new developments.
- Construction Monitoring and Draw Review (CMDR) for projects under construction.
- Other engineering, architectural, and construction-related consulting projects based upon client needs.
- 10-40% travel required (US-only) to visit client properties.
- Technical Assessments and Reporting: Deliver high-quality reporting to effectively communicate the property characteristics, site improvements, building systems, and associated recommendations.
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of site conditions and building systems to ensure that all improvements and deficiencies are observed and documented.
- Thoroughly review relevant documentation, drawings, and observed site conditions to form opinions and recommendations, and accurately communicate findings in written reports, cost tables and verbal communications.
- Effectively manage your time, resources, and support system to meet project deadlines and manage client expectations.
- Project Administration: Demonstrate organization and record compliance.
- Organize project files, supporting documentation, and deliverables in conjunction with project coordinators and managers.
- Participate and contribute to company meetings, process updates, communications, training, and other duties.
- Manage travel, expenses, and time according to company policy.
- Continuing Education: Continue to learn and develop technical skill sets through experience, industry certifications, and internal training.
- Learn new skills and share knowledge across the organization on an ongoing basis.
- Maintain and earn licensure/certifications, as needed, to demonstrate professional competence.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a Construction-related field.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering, construction, architecture, or real estate consulting, specifically providing physical due diligence related to real estate transactions (Property Condition Assessment), construction evaluation, cost estimating, quality control, and / or project management.
- Prefer relevant industry certification, professional licensure, and accreditation such as PE, AIA, RA, or similar.
- Detail-oriented approach to work with strong analytical prowess, customer-facing skills, and the ability to summarize fact-based information into opinions and recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are critical.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and Adobe/PDF skills.
- Ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines in a collaborative working environment.
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
Good narrative report writing skills are required.
